Mindfulness to investigate our body's response to conflict

What happens to our bodies when we are in conflict?

We regularly activate the fight-flight-freeze reaction when in conflict. This stress response is a complex and well-orchestrated cascade of physiological changes that incur in an instant.

When we trigger the stress response regularly, we've entered the realm of persistent anxiety and increase our disease risk.

By using mindfulness-based practices such as breath control, we can actively engage the parasympathetic nervous system, which calms the body even when we are in the fight, flight, or freeze response.

Mindfulness to investigate our emotions

How do you know you’re in conflict with someone?

We know we're in conflict because we feel an emotional charge that leaves us off kilter and tells us something is awry.

We must address our emotional selves if we are to manage conflict effectively.

Mindfulness helps us to cultivate the tool of emotional competency to do just that.
